Vin Diesel announced plans for a Miami Vice reboot through his production company, One Race Television, back in 2017. The project was set to be developed in collaboration with Chris Morgan Productions, known for the Fast & Furious movies. The reboot aimed to bring a modern twist to the iconic '80s TV series, with Vin Diesel serving as an executive producer -

However, despite initial excitement and a teaser trailer released in 2018, the project hasn't made significant progress since then). Don Johnson, who starred in the original series, mentioned in interviews that while there were discussions about the reboot, it hasn't moved forward due to various challenges, including the difficulty of capturing the unique essence of the original series in today's context.

The reboot was set to be written by Peter Macmanus (The Mist, Satisfaction) and produced by Universal Television, Chris Morgan Productions, and Diesel’s banner, One Race TV. There has been no official announcement regarding executive or potential stars. The hope was, of course, that Johnson and Thomas might make appearances..
